This two-week course presents a systems approach to urban sanitation and has been developed by our partner Eawag. There is an emphasis on the enabling environment necessary for successful project planning and programming, which equates to overall sustainability. The theory is complemented by practical case studies on city-wide and area-based planning approaches. It provides the participants with an overview of different tools used for data collection and assessment of the initial situation as well as an introduction to urban sanitation diagnostic tools, stakeholder analysis, and mobile data collection tools. Lectures are combined with workshops and practical exercises.
